In this 4-day lesson, students will delve deep into the caste system in Vedic society to learn about caste oppression of Dalits and how Dalits have theorized and acted against oppression. This will be done through the examination of and engagement with the work of two Dalit activists and thinkers, B.R. Ambedkar from the 20th century and Thenmozhi Soundarajan from the 21st century. Students will create poster projects on one of these important Dalit thinkers, culminating in a reflective gallery walk with small group presentations.
